Anger of Achilles â€Å"ANGER – sing, goddess, the anger of Achilles son of Peleus, that accursed anger, which brought the Greeks endless sufferings and sent the mighty souls of many warriors to Hades, leaving their bodies as carrion for the dogs and a feast for the birds; and Zeus’s purpose was fulfilled. It all began when Agamemnon lord of men and godlike Achilles quarrelled and parted† (Iliad 4). What is anger and how does it influence the body? Anger is a powerful emotion. If it isn’t handled appropriately, it may have destructive results for you and those closest to you. Uncontrolled anger can lead to arguments, physical fights, physical abuse, assault and self-harm. Achilles hearing this news sets aside his anger towards Agamemnon and channels it towards hector to revenge his falling companion Patroclus. Before doing so Achilles had to wait for his mom to return from Mount Olympus with a new set of armor for him to fight in because his armor was lost to Hector (Iliad 3-337). Secondly, there was Patroclus who was the servant and companion to Achilles. Patroclus seeing the pain and the suffering that was coming to the Greeks without Achilles fighting. This gave him a sense of obligation to join the war to help his fellow comrades. So he persuades Achilles to loan him his armor and Achilles tells Patroclus to bring honor and glory to him in the eye of the Greeks on the battlefield. Patroclus is ultimately killed when he is dazed and stripped of his armor by the god Apollo. He is first stabbed by Euphorbus and then finished off by the mighty hector (Iliad 274-298). Then, there is Hector of the flashing helmet the leader of the Trojans and one of their strongest warriors. Hector is the brother of Paris the character that kidnapped Helen of Sparta. There was no doubt that Hector would be killed by the mighty Achilles after he slaughter his companion and friend Patroclus. It was even prophesized by Patroclus in his dying breathes that he would fall to Achilles (Iliad 110-111). Next, there is Agamemnon leader of the of the Greeks and high ranking king.
