Analysis Of Walt Disney s Snow White, Dumbo - 1200 Words

Walt Disney, animator, cartoonist, and entrepreneur, was a man of incredible vision and passion. He fundamentally transformed the entertainment industry in America. Prior to Walt Disney Studios, the art of animation was simply a moving comic strip, void of sound or color and generally constrained to short vignettes featuring friendly characters like cats. Disney was the first to innovate a system of animation on a large-scale, capable of producing feature-length films. Snow White, Dumbo, Pinocchio- these productions revolutionized the film industry in a way never seen previously. Walt Disney continues to be a cultural phenomenon, a household name spoken to this day by children across the world. This romanticized image of Walt Disney conveniently forgets one of the darkest moments in the famous visionary s past. The day was May 29th, 1941. Over three hundred Disney Studios employees walked out of their jobs and began to form picket lines surrounding the company buildings. The strikers held high colorful signs featuring famous Disney cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck- one poster displayed a picture of Pluto the Dog, reading I d rather be a dog than a scab! The workers marched on strike against Walt Disney Studios. The outrage of Disney s employees clearly demonstrated their unhappiness with the way the company s workers were being treated. The day before the strike commenced, on May 28th, 1941, Disney told his workers: This studio will never makeShow MoreRelatedThe Walt Disney Company: a Financial and Organizational Analysis3139 Words   |  13 PagesThe Walt Disney Company: A Financial and Organizational Analysis Authors: Cliff Anderson, John Morris, Jacob Lawrentz, And Donna Munsey Financial Environments of Organizations, MOL 503, MMOL 1-11 Professor: Kari Day Warner Pacific College September 10th, 2009 The Walt Disney Company: A Financial and Organizational Analysis The Organizational History of Disney Before WWII In 1939, the Valley Progress newspaper (History, p. 3) announced that San Fernando Valley in southern CaliforniaRead MoreThe Walt Disney Company Essay2102 Words   |  9 PagesHead: The Walt Disney Company FIN534: Financial Analysis Heather Kain Strayer University Dr. John Karaffa November 30, 2011 Introduction The Walt Disney Company, along with its subsidiaries, is a diversified entertainment company. Huck Budd Douglass Essay Example For Students

Huck Budd Douglass Essay The world in which we live in now is much less oppressive than say the world lived in the middle of the 1800s. Up until the Civil War, the South depended on their peculiar institution of slavery, in order to be productive a successful. Most people believed slavery was not wrong, but those who thought otherwise seldom tried to alter it. In general if surrounded by oppressive environment, one does not usually try to make a difference in that world. This is because people are afraid to defend what is right against a whole mass of people who believe otherwise. Huck Finn in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Billy Budd in Billy Budd, and Frederick Douglass in his autobiography all portray individuals who because of their good, innocent qualities go up against the oppression in their society. Living in an oppressive society does not always draw you to do the wrong thing you are still capable of generating change, whether it be for a certain individual or against a whole mass of people. Billy Budd starts off on the ship the Rights of Man, Melville obviously showing his intent in the naming of the first ship. This shows that on this ship where Billy wanted to be and chose to be he had rights. That he and the other crew had choices of what to do and how to be. Then along comes the British navy and decides that they are going to take Billy aboard their ship Power of War. This is when Billy is brought into an oppressive society. This is the navy and wartime during which rules must be followed as well as a lifestyle that must be followed. Billy is a poor innocent boy with a childish stutter. This stutter shows Billys humane side, a flaw, as well as leading you to the thinking that he has the innocence of a child. This stutter is connected to innocence because of its childish qualities. When most children begin speaking they have some sort of stutter, which usually goes away. The stutter parallels innocence because it is showing that you are just learning how to talk and dont really comprehend the correct way to make sounds, as you grow older you learn and the stutter disappears. Like innocence you are born with it, but as you grow older you usually are not portrayed as innocent any longer. Billy is like the premature kid who still has both his stutter and his innocence. Billy is introduced to many people aboard his new ship and is confronted by John Claggart. In this movie Claggart is the one who Billy must actually go up against. Being in an oppressive society and Claggart being the master Billy is forced to listen to Claggart. Although he tries to avoid him he is nevertheless confronted by him. Claggart and Billy are totally opposite in character. Claggart is an evil man who is out to get Billy whereas Billy is a sweet innocent young man who tries to help others. It is these two opposite traits that eventually lead to the death of both of these men. Billy tries to avoid Claggart because he has heard of his evil and does not want to deal with it. It is until he hears of Claggarts accusations that he is involved in a mutiny that he confronts him leading to the deathblow, which Billy delivers to Claggart. Captain Vere now holds a court to determine Billys consequences.Captain Vere is torn here between doing the right thing morally and doing the right thing legally, and in the end he realizes he has sworn to uphold the law and does just that. .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 , .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .postImageUrl , .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 , .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:hover , .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:visited , .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:active { border:0!important; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:active , .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5 .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uea91f087bab6aabdad5447dde8b2e1e5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Paradise Lost By Milton Essay Billy did indeed kill a higher officer and according to the laws must be sentenced death. It tore the officers among themselves, most saying Billy was justified in his actions therefore should not be punished to the extent of death. Research Social Stratification And Mobility -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Research Social Stratification And Mobility? Answer: Introduction This report aims to investigate the suitability of work from home facility for the employees of AKC Architectural Firm (AKC). From the provided situation, it can be observed that the company is facing the issue of high absenteeism among the employees, as most of the employees have to stay at home due to look after their sick children and due to other school related issues. For this reason, the management of AKC is considering to provide the employees with work from home facility so that they can continue their work. In this context, it needs to be mentioned that the companies are required to consider some major factor before implementing the facility for work from home (Allen et al. 2013). The following discussion considers all the major aspects required to be discussed before the implementation of the work from home strategy for the employees of AKC. Software and Access Before the implementation of the strategy of work from home, the accountant is needed to assess the availability of appropriate software so that the works can be done in a smooth manner from home. There needs to be appropriate software that will maintain a connection between the employees and the administration team. With the assistance of this software, the instructor will be able to give instructions of the tasks in working hours. This can be a video software, chatting software or the personal mail of the company. The accountant needs to assess all these aspects (Masuda et al. 2012). Purchase of Additional Resources This part is related with the above part. After the assessment, in case the accountant finds that some important resources like software and others are missing, the company needs to purchase them for implementing work from home facility. Another important aspect is laptops. In case the AKC uses desktop computers at office, they need to buy laptops along with the required software for their employees so that they can carry them to home for doing work from home. Thus, the company needs to bear the expenses of buying laptops. However, if AKC uses laptops at use, then they need to give permission to the employees for carrying these laptops at home. In both of the cases, AKC needs provide the employees allowance for internet (Sweet et al. 2014). Cost Savings AKC has certain scopes for cost saving by implementing the strategy of work from home. First, in the employees of the company are provided with fork from home faculty for 3 days a week, then there will be a reduction of utility bills for the company; like electricity bills, internet usage bills and telephone bills. After that, the company will save the money for traveling allowances provided to the employees, if there is any. Other costs saving areas are savings in the usage of water, coffee, tea and others (Leslie et al. 2012). Taxation Benefits of Work from Home It is an important aspect to inform the employees of AKC about the taxation benefits of work from home. As per Australian Taxation Office, in case the employees use tools, equipments and other assets for the generation of income, then the employees can claim a taxable deduction for some or all of the cost of the assets (ato.gov.au 2018). It is important for the company to inform the employees about the taxation benefits of work from home so that they become interested in this aspect. Working Hours According to the Australian regulation, the employees have 38 working hours in a week. It needs to be mentioned that there is not any exception of this working hour in case of work from home. For this reason, the employees of AKC need to work for 38 hours in a week (Duncan and Pettigrew 2012.). However, there needs to be flexibility in the working hours as the main aim of the strategy of work from home is to provide flexibility to the employees. For this reason, the employees should be given with the option to fulfill the working hours of 38 hours in a flexible manner. It implies that they can work whenever they want to work buy required to fulfill the assigned working hours and tasks (Katz and Krueger 2016). Process to Stop Abusing the Working Hours There is a major possibility of the abuse of working hours by the employees in case of work from home as the employees many take the negative advantage of work from home and do not fully work in the full working hours. In order to avoid this issue, the employees are required to be assigned work on daily basis that need to be completed on daily basis. This will make the employees to work in urgent basis and they will get the flexibility for working. In addition, there needs to be penalty for the abuse of working hour like salary deduction and others. All these aspects will stop the abuse of working hours (Ferguson et al. 2012). Issues in Flexible Working Hours Some major issues can be seen in flexible working system. The first issue is the availability of the employees. In flexible working system, the administration teams are not always able to make contacts with the employees that hamper the work. The next issue is the timely completion of assigned tasks. There are many instances where the employees miss the deadline of tasks or cannot deliver the work in time. Some other issues can be the establishment of connectivity with the employees and others. Thus, the accountant needs to solve these issues in order to put the system in place (Eversole, Venneberg and Crowder 2012). Availability of Adequate Staffs The company needs to segregate the whole employees in some groups. These teams will have certain working slabs allocated for them and they must be available in that working slab. For example, there can be four teams. They are team 1, 2, 3 and 4. Now, team 1 is required to be present from 9 am to 11 am on a mandatory basis. Team 2 needs to be present mandatory from 11 am to 1 pm and so on. With the implementation of this strategy, the company can ensure that there will always be adequate staff on site (Stier, Lewin-Epstein and Braun 2012). Different Arrangements There will be different arrangements for the administrative team and the employees as flexible working system can also be provided to the administration team. However, the work pressure will be more on the administrative team as they will have the responsibility of assigning the works, follow on various work related issues, follow on the availability of the employees and others. The responsibility of the administration team will be to report to the higher authority about various work related issues on a constant basis so that everything can be run in the smooth manner (Wood et al. 2012). Conclusion Based on the above discussion, it can be seen that the accountant of AKC needs to consider the above-discussed issues in the implementation of the work from home facility. Amendment with all these issues will ensure the reduction on absenteeism for the companies. In addition, the company will be able to continue their operation in an effective manner as they employees have excellent skills. Based on the above discussion, some recommendations are provided below: It is recommended that AKC should purchase adequate amount of laptops along with software for this strategy. The company is also recommended to inform the employees about the taxation benefit of work from home so that their enthusiasm can be increased. It is recommended that the company should implement the discussed suggested strategy in order to ensure availability of the employees. society and individuals essays

society and individuals essays Society and individuals do not denote separable phenomena, but are simply collective and distributive aspects of the same thing. In this aspect of his theory Charles Horton Cooley states that the individual or person is actually a part of a larger individual called society. With that statement I will discuss Cooleys theory and explain my reaction to the theory. Cooley states that a persons self grows out of a persons commerce with others. Well doesnt that create a society? A persons individual self put together with millions of others selves equals a society. So where does an image that society want, come from? One person? In my opinion most individuals are afraid to express their own opinion. Thus creating a free market on the opinion. One person comes up with the opinion and the rest of society, if they feel it is not harmful to themselves, goes along with the opinion. This creates separate subculture in society such as the punk subculture or the thug subculture. Because one person was willing to put spikes in his hair for an outrageous reaction, others followed to express them selves with out being an individual but being an individual society. In the thug subculture does in make you hard to wear clothes to big? If it does, than how do today's youth in middle class suburbia sport that style, they have never lived in the ghetto and exp erienced things like true thugs have. In this manner peoples individual selfs have come from whom they interact with. Supporting Cooleys theory. The only problem with this idea is that it leaves the idea of originality to be an outcast on society. Being different from every one is a call for prejudice, harassment, and being left out of societys in crowd. We should be able to see a person for their accomplishments and their abilities. ...

What is a Code of Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

What is a Code of Ethics - Essay Example Ethics works in both ways in terms of employee commitment. A workplace is expected to establish a working environment where employees would want to come to work and be productive because of pride in what they do for a living. This gives the employees the motivation to stick with the company. A healthy and happy working environment makes the workforce enthusiastic about their works. In return, the employees become willing to cooperate with the company even in times of crisis. Employees are willing to extend a hand to lift up the spirit of the company as a part of its team instead of turning their back. They keep the confidentiality of matters that involve the company and maintain a good reputation as well that can also reflect the good image of their company. Investor loyalty is in one way or another, related to employee commitment. What would make an investor stick into something is a good service and return on/of investment. It is said that ethical business practices would include actions such as not using marketing materials or campaigns that mislead consumers (Tatum, 2003).

Software Tools for Qualitative Research Assignment

Software Tools for Qualitative Research - Assignment Example The latest version is the NVivo 10 designed to interact with social media platforms (Bazeley & Jackson, 2013). NVivo is able to preserve styles in their original documents forms including documents in non-English language. NVivo has containers called nodes, which can be assigned demographic data or attributes of features (Bazeley & Jackson, 2013). According to Bazeley & Jackson (2013), the nodes can further be rearranged in hierarchies, or be merged with similar nodes to form a single node for general representation. The occurrence of multiple sources which share common characteristics can also be grouped together to form various distinct classifications (Bazeley & Jackson, 2013). Schà ¶nfelder (2011) wrote that demographic information such as gender and age can be easily imported from external sources in form of text file or spreadsheet formats. NVivo10 further integrates automatic connection to face book, twitter, and LinkedIn datasets for the purposes of patterning data (Bazeley & Jackson, 2013). Bazeley & Jackson (2013) further added that, the package also has querying tool, which can be used to interrogate qualitative data to test theories or generate new information. With NVivo10, one can run dynamic modelling system to represent a project in real time or capture the project at a specified point in time using the static model (Flick, 2009). MAXQDA was developed from winMAX software tool, which had been designed in late 80s (Schà ¶nfelder, 2011). With MAXQDA, one is able to create and import texts in rich text format (Schà ¶nfelder, 2011). Referring to Flick (2009), MAXQDA software tool is able to extract text document from the internet by just dragging the documents from the websites and dropping them on the programs interface. Most objects and documents can also be imported in the form of embedded objects of the file
